After much testing, I would recommend washing the hoodies in cold, not hot, water in the washer and also air drying them as opposed to putting them in a dryer as it helps retain fabric stretch and its original size, as well as preventing it from piling or shrinking.

Also fabric softeners of your own choosing do help as well
